The Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers a full range of facial cosmetic and reconstructive procedures to improve and enhance the appearance and function of the face and neck.

Our team of facial surgeons, nurses, physical therapists and speech language pathologists provide friendly and comprehensive care tailored to the individual needs of each patient. 

Both medical and surgical treatments are available to help restore facial function and improve the appearance of patients with facial paralysis.

Examples include botulinum injections, gold weight implants and newer suspension techniques. Definitions of procedures performed include:

  • Nerve Transfer: borrows other nerves to increase facial movement.
  • Temporalis Sling: borrows other muscles to increase facial movement.
  • Static Sling: uses materials to support sagging tissues.
  • Gold weight implant of the upper eyelid: places a small implant to improve eyelid closure.
  • Lower eyelid tightening: pulls up a sagging lower eyelid.
  • Brow lift: lifts sagging brows.
  • Botulinum injection: substance used to reduce abnormal facial twitching (lasts three to six months).
  • Newer facial suspension techniques: minimally invasive sutures lifts sagging structures that cause nasal blockage or drooping of the mouth.
